Town of Westwood Hanlon Deerfield School Project Passes Town Meeting Vote and Ballot

October 29, 2021

Compass is excited to move forward with the Town of Westwood Hanlon Deerfield School project. This was a complicated project involving three of the Westwood Elementary Schools. With the help of a demographic and redistricting consultant, Compass created a comprehensive plan to map out a logical process and path for this project. The plan allowed the district to address each of the difficult issues confronting the district and create a step by step process to achieve a positive outcome. In the end, the project passed the vote with a three-to-one overwhelming majority vote supporting the consolidation and redistricting for this project.

The next step in the process is to complete the design and bid the project this summer. Construction is expected to begin Summer of 2022. The school is anticipated to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2023. A second phase involving demolition of the old school and development of a new baseball and soccer field will be completed by Fall of 2024.
